i am too tired this morning to write up my originally-planned secret, so i’ll save it for next week and instead fill out another survey about the rev (and a little me) that i stole from dooce…enjoy!
What are your middle names?
mine is victoria, his is clark. which one’s nerdier?
How long have you been together?
as of saturday, 17 months.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
we have known each other since we were both 15 while at summer camp in the summer of 2000. so we knew each other just over 7 years before we started dating, unless you count me painting his nails at camp “dating.”
Who asked whom out?
he asked me out, pretty romantically i might add/embarass him with.
How old are each of you?
we are both currently 24, though he will outstrip me in april right around the rebirth of another rather important religious man.
Whose siblings do you see the most?
really we only see one of the rev’s siblings most often, because she’s 13 and therefore still at home with his parents here in memphis. after that we saw my two sisters more recently, then he saw his other two brothers just before that…i have yet to meet one of his brothers, though!
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
just being too busy to do the things we really like and want to do. we thrive most when we get to spend time out doing things, or traveling, or playing scrabble at a coffee shop, or just spending relaxing time together. until may we have way less of that time available to spend, so we get stressed…trying to keep in mind that this too shall pass is important.
Did you go to the same school?
nope not at all. he wouldn’t even be admitted to my school, he’s just that uncool….also because he came with boy parts and my school does not so much dig that. more specifically, i went to wellesley and he went to the college of charleston and the university of west florida. also i think some university of memphis was thrown in there somewhere.
Are you from the same home town?
nope. i was born in georgetown, washington, d.c. and was there til the age of 5 when we moved to overland park/olathe, ks. he was born in new orleans, and then moved to germantown, tn in infancy.
Who is smarter?
we’re pretty scarily equal. i have the edge in art and culture stuff, he has a lot more modern lit, movie, wordsmithing knowledge. we’re both effed when it comes to sports.
Who is the most sensitive?
me for sure, because, as he would say, he’s a MAN.
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
hmm for most often i’d probably say germantown commissary. but we drift towards indian food or chinese food or mexican food after that….we kind of eat out more than we should.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
gulf shores, al. or new orleans, la. hoping to go further, maybe get an ocean under our belts.
Who has the craziest exes?
since i suppose i get the most ridicule for mine, i win. although i’ll just say i don’t have an ex that switched sides…or at least, not yet.
Who has the worst temper?
we both have nasty flare up tempers, they just emerge differently. i just go silent. very, very silent. he, on the other hand, likes to hit things, often to his own detriment; besides the Blue Pen Explosion of Aught Seven, he also has managed to nearly break his knuckles by accidentally slamming his fist into a glass jar candle in a fit of anger. and when he came back in the house after finding out someone smashed his car window and stole his sirius, his bagged lunch hit the living room wall before he even reentered the room. his solution to his temper though is to run until he’s too tired to muster up energy to be angry. it works well.
Who does the cooking?
we both cook. he’s very very good about pitching in when i’m just too worn out from work, and has been doing more of the cooking lately. i try and make lunches for us to take to work, and on the weekends i’ll cook when he’s out at class so we’ll have stuff ready.
Who is the neat-freak?
listen, just because i don’t want a pair of boxers in the exact middle of the living room floor does not make me a neat “freak.” maybe the fact that i don’t want a single thing on the living room floor does. point conceded.
Who is more stubborn?
it is bad because we are pretty evenly matched. i win though, because i should.
Who hogs the bed?
according to him i hog the covers, but according to me he hogs the bed. he always sprawls out all gangly 5’11” of him, and i have to have some blankets to snuggle with on my tiny corner of the bed. also, now that he pretty much can’t sleep til patsy is purring on his chest, they together are expanding their empire.
Who wakes up earlier?
me, every single day. i wake up to take a shower, and by the time i’m showered and hair dryed and everything, he is thinking about opening one eye.
Where was your first date?
well, we weren’t technically “dating” at the time but we went to beale street in memphis, listened to a blues band perform outside, had a glass of wine at the peabody, and walked around the art museum here in memphis. that day is what led us to begin officially dating.
Who is more jealous?
that would be me.
How long did it take to get serious?
about zero minutes. when you know, you know. and you can’t really get into a long-distance thing from the get go without having a certain measure of seriousness.
Who eats more?
me, absolutely – he is rigidly strict with himself on what he puts into his mouth and it goes like this: coffee, coffee, coffee, salad with precisely 2 wheat crackers, coffee, green tea, green tea, green tea, vegetables and rice, new belgium 1554 beer. mine goes like this: blueberry muffin, chai, diet coke, diet coke, chicken tenders, fries, diet dr. pepper, diet coke, chex mix, diet coke, large bowl of rice slathered in barbecue sauce. he has more discipline.
Who does the laundry?
i do it, not because he can’t or won’t but because i’m anal.
Who’s better with the computer?
the rev, by far…he’s working on some new stuff now that should be pretty cool. i’ve got the graphic design stuff a tad more under control than he does though, that’s my one thing.
Who drives when you are together?
we switch off. sometimes i just don’t feel like driving, sometimes i do. but if we’re going out for drinks or something, i almost always drive because i’m always the soberest. also because i don’t drift to the left, a tendency of the rev’s that was confirmed by one of his brothers and his girlfriend, or constantly toot my horn just to let the world know it works.
and there you have this week’s revelations…check out dooce’s, they were funny as always!
